Celebrity Tattoos

Celebrities are in the spotlight not only when it comes to their movies and music, but in their private lives as well. We’re interested in knowing what they eat, drink, wear, how they act and even what tattoos they’ve printed on their bodies. Celebrity tattoos are as famous as the celebrities themselves.

One of the celebrities with the most tattoos is Angelina Jolie. She has at least five of them, including one in Khmer, Cambodia’s native language, placed on her left shoulder; its meaning is “May your enemies run far away from you. If you acquire riches, may they remain yours always.” Johnny Depp is next on our list of celebrity tattoos. He’s inked on his arms, whereas Josh Hartnett tattooed a regal crown on his neck. Brad Pitt has tattoos on his back and arms, whereas Megan Fox has a tattoo of Marilyn Monroe on her arm and two writings on her ribs and right shoulder blade. The first one reads “There was once a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her HEART.” and the second one “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies.” Colin Farrell has tribal motifs on a shoulder and a cross on his left arm, while Britney Spears tattooed a pair of dice on her wrist and the word “God” spelled in Hebrew on the back of her neck.

Rock stars like Tommy Lee, Axl Rose, or Sebastian Bach have large portions of their bodies covered in tattoos, but for them it’s a marketing strategy, not just passion. Even sports celebrities like David Beckham love their tattoos, which explains why they’re covered in them

Celebrity tattoos, just like tattoos of regular people, are either butterfly tattoos or symbolic, reminding of a loved one, of troubles that they’ve overcome or simply express preferences in art, music or pop culture. For example, Rihanna’s latest tattoo is a tribute to her late grandmother. This intimate tattoo is a picture of the Egyptian goddess Isis, here endowed with wings. The tattoo is placed under the artist’s breasts and was recently shown on her Instagram account. Since winged creatures seem to be to her liking, she also recently got a tattoo of a falcon on her ankle, thus raising the total number of her tats to 15. Lady Gaga is another celebrity with tattoos all over her body. She recently acquired two tattoos over seas, one spelling ARTPOP on her bicep and another one representing an anchor. The first was inked in Australia whereas the latter at the Tattoo Museum in Amsterdam. All in all, tattooing is an increasingly popular art that men and women alike use to express themselves.
